Protecting Aviation Safety: Our Mission
Over the past several years and at a cost of nearly half a billion dollars, aircraft owners have invested into the aviation safety technology known as ADS-B (aviation surveillance technology). The aviation community invested and complied at considerable expense following assurances that it would not be used beyond it’s intended purpose.
Third party agents have emerged and are connecting with an increasing number of airports to pervert the use of this data for monetization. Aircraft are being tracked via ADS-B from which bills are sent to the aircraft owners for landing and touch-n-go operations. This undermines pilot trust in a system intended for safety and is now penalizing essential flight operations and practices for currency. When charging for flight operations that are used for proficiency and training pilots may perform fewer operations leading to potentially higher accidents rates. Another unfortunate consequence is that some pilots (against legal and safe practices) may turn off this technology or may not install where it’s optional. Either can have an impact on flight safety for all areas of aviation, both commercial and private.
Our mission is to raise awareness of this growing issue and take action to protect the integrity of ADS-B. We are committed to leveraging all legal avenues to halt the misuse of this system and ensure that it remains dedicated solely to its original purpose: safety in aviation.
